- Sea Conditions:  seas were mostly flat throughout the month with some windy afternoons

- Water Temperature: 27-28.5 degrees

- Wind:  calm month

- Rainfall: mainly in the west and south coast

Some reports on banks. Smaller fish

Large numbers throughout the month. Mix of small and large fish

Notable Catches & Reports

 

Marlin have arrived with large numbers being caught on the right days around new and full moon. Big schools of small and big skipjack tuna have been found around the island.

Sharks have become a major issue on many spots specially on banks and drop offs. They are staying close to tuna shoals.

The Suzuki fishing competition saw a record breaking amount of boats with 95 boats entering with over 350 fishermen. A 140hp was won for a 400lbs ++ blue Marlin boated.

The SIOBC was held at the end of January and also broke many records. Below you will see the stats from the competition.

Other fish: 65lbs wahoo

-500lbs ++ Marlin caught on Etelis during the SIOBC

- 500lbs ++ Marlin caught on Inyati during the SIOBC

- Best Lures/Bait: artificial lures and live bait

📅 Outlook for Next Month

- Expect more stable conditions with some windy and rainy days. Maybe a cyclone or two

- water temperatures to maintain 28-29 degrees

- Marlin bite to remain strong around new and full moon

- Tuna bite to remain strong

- Yamaha fishing competition on the 21st February

- Fishing Guru competition on the 28th February
