🎣 Monthly Fishing Report – February 2026

🌦 Weather Overview

- Sea Conditions:  seas were mostly flat throughout the month with some light breeze and rainy days

- Water Temperature: 27-28.5 degrees

- Wind:  calm month

- Rainfall: mainly in the west and south coast

🐟 Target Species This Month

Good numbers offshore and drop offs best bites early morning and late afternoon

Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)

5–15kg

Very Low numbers Found far out

Wahoo

 10–30kg

Medium numbers but those caught were 15kgs ++

Giant Trevally (GT)

5–40kg

Very low numbers

Dogtooth Tuna

8–30kg

Some reports on banks. Smaller fish

Blue Marlin

100–300kg

Large numbers throughout the month. Mix of small and large fish

Notable Catches & Reports

 

The month of February did not disappoint! Many blue Marlin were caught and released. Some large specimens were lost in the Yamaha competition after line breaks. The big yellowfin tuna have started to arrive with big numbers caught at the Yamaha fishing competition.

In shore fishing has been good with some good fish landed around reefs and drop offs.

Sharks remain a challenge in some areas.

 

🐟 Catch of the Month

-          800lbs marlin caught in the west by Fishing master

-          70 lbs dogtooth tuna caught by Jules Rousset on slow jig

🛠 Gear & Techniques

- Best Lures/Bait: artificial lures and live bait

📅 Outlook for Next Month

- Expect more windy days

- big tuna shoals to arrive with large marlin around

- water temperatures to start dropping to 27-28 degrees

- Marlin bite to remain strong around new and full moon

- Tuna bite to remain strong

- Yamaha fishing competition on the 21st February
